The Golden Jubilee anniversary of the Y.K. College, Wangjing was celebrated on the 28th October, 2022 at the college premise with the main events in the Multipurpose Hall of the college. Dr. Sh. Ghanashyam Singh, Assistant Professor(Manipuri) was the convenor of the Organizing Committee, being helped by other sub-committees. Dr. Th. Radheshyam Singh, Hon’ble MLA of Heirok AC graced the function as Chief guest. Smt Y. Ibemhal Devi, w/o (late) Y. Biren Singh, Founder Chairman also graced the function as Guest of Honour. Dr. S. Giri Singh, Principal of the college presided the function. The 50th year of the foundation day of this college i.e. 28th October, 1972 was celebrated as a grand event in presence of special invitees who are family relatives of (late) Yangambam Kumar Singh (from whom the name of the college is given) and who have greatly contributed to the foundation and development of the college so far.

The programme began with floral tributes paid to the statue of (late) Yangambam Kumar Singh and the portraits of the Founder members of the college. Students of the college sang the theme song “Khurumjei Ema” in the opening.

Shri O. Binoykumar Singh, Associate Professor (Physics Department) gave the Keynote address in which he elaborately recalled the initial establishment and nascent years of the college.

Dr. L. Gopen Singh, Assistant Professor(Zoology) and Co-ordinator(IQAC) talked about brief achievements of the college so far with visual (powerpoint) presentation.

It was followed by the release of a Souvenir by the dignitaries with warm and cheerful applause. Dignitaries presented awards and mementos of various kinds to outstanding students and faculty members of the college.

Dignitaries on the dais and members from special invitees gave speeches consecutively. They shared valuable recollections and experiences about the past of the college. Mention may be made that Dr. Th. Radheshyam Singh, Hon’ble MLA as the Chief guest talked about his days as a student of Y.K. College. They also provided valuable feedbacks and ways forward of the college.

At the end, N. Jayenta Meitei, Assistant Professor (Geography) & Nodal Officer(IT) gave vote of thanks to everyone present.
